Sometimes it just hits you like a lightening bolt. While I was finishing up Gypsy in Black, I was dreading what was to follow. My mind was blank. Do I start the novel about my husband’s past living in France, Israel, and Iran and how we met? Or should I continue with the Amish series?
The Amish series has been faring quite well at Amazon.com and doing OK (in comparison) at BN.com. To create a sequel would be good, especially if I can get it published to hit the holiday crowd. Summer is waning and, with it, the summer reading sales dip. It’s a fluctuating cycle, to be certain. It will never be consistent. But it’s nice to see how the book moves up in the ratings.
The big question is…how to continue such a series? Do I continue with the primary characters or do I branch out?
Last night, it hit me. A true lightening bolt. In less than thirty minutes, I had the entire outline typed out. I couldn’t wait for my husband to come home. When I shared the story with him, he kept trying to jump ahead or suggest things for upcoming chapters but…I already had them in the outline. We had a good laugh (great minds think alike) and now…I’m ready to write. It will be a touch five-six months but…I’m looking forward to it.
P.S. The title is tentatively “On Hills of Wheat”…
