The most thoroughly wasted of all days is that on which one has not laughed.
Nicolas de Chamfort
I love this quote by Nicolas de Chamfort. He was a French men in the 1700s. He did not live a happy life, working hand to mouth for many years until he began working for the royal family. During the French Revolution, he was heavily involved and eventually imprisoned. The end of his life was also not happy. Yet, he found time to laugh.
Isn’t it the truth that life throws us many curve balls? We have to decide how we are going to live…focusing on the negative or glorifying the positive? I find that laughter cures so many ills. I surround myself with happy people, people that make me laugh. Wit is my favorite characteristic in people. A little wit goes a long way to making one laugh. And don’t you find that a good belly laugh is the greatest gift in any day?
But even more important is that I do what I can to make other people laugh. If I can bring joy to people, even if only for a moment, that makes me happy. Happiness begets happiness. God wants us to be happy in our daily life. I do believe that.
A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
So, for today, be happy. Glorify the Lord and do what you can to surround yourself with happy people filled with laughter. Better yet, be one of those people. It’s contagious.
Hugs and blessings,
