This might sound strange but I love, love, love to make homemade butter. I used to make it for Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve dinners. I haven’t made it in a while so….
This is the basic recipe, but you can great creative with this. Add cinnamon into the mixture and watch your family’s expression when they taste this on your homemade bread (did you make that yet???? Click here for the recipe).
Plus, if you have smaller children, they love to take turns shaking the jar. I used to put the milk into two bell jars and have a contests with my children to see whose jar would turn to butter first!
- Fresh cream (originally I posted milk but it took FOREVER to shake the jar)
- Salt, optional
Put the whole milk into a glass with a lid tightly secured. Shake the jar for 10-15 minutes or until it turns into butter. Add salt as desired. Refrigerate.
